Weeknotes for 28 July

These are the first notes for a while. That’s due to the piecemeal nature of work and general busy-ness.

I’ll summarise this week as it’s fairly representative of recent work patterns in general.

Projects

  • I held a card sorting workshop for the Digital Sharing Hub’s content. There was plenty to reflect on after this. It was nice to have people take their time to support this outside of their day jobs. I’ll have to return to this work after a break in August.
  • Reviewing plans for the work on the ‘Dynamic marketplace’. This feels more complicated than it looks, and something we need to give some more dedicated resources to.

Preparing for the Eisteddfod events

Translation ops

  • Pitch for colleagues in Comms to trial a different approach to working with translators. I hope this pilot can move along in my absence in August so that we can roll it out wider in CDPS later this year.

Admin

  • A few chats about the future of translation.
  • Reviewing some job descriptions for the org’s Succession planning – both content design and translation

Community

  • Chat with Dani about community planning. I’m glad to have such a patient and organised colleague!
  • I sent some possible future speaker invites
  • We had a connect service catch-up

Other

  • I drafted some social content in Welsh to cover for a colleague who is on leave. I havent’ done that for a while!
  • I had a day-off on Thursday. I went with my wife for food to Goodsheds in Barry before going for a walk through the woods near Porthkerry. It was nice to do something different! away from the desk.
