Yn gynharach eleni bu farw David Griffith Jones, neu Selyf,<\/a> fel y byddai’r helyw yn ei adnabod.<\/p>\n

Roedd Selyf wrth gwrs athro cerdd dant ac yn un o hoelion wyth cerddorol Eifionydd. Fe sefydlodd G\u00f4r Meibion Dwyfor, ac fe hyfforddodd neb llai na Bryn Terfel yng nghrefft cerdd dant.<\/p>\n

Cafwyd teyrngedau iddo yn rhifyn mis Mai eleni o bapur bro Eifionydd<\/a>, Y Ffynnon.<\/p>\n

Yncl Defi<\/h2>\n

Ond fel Yncl Defi yr oeddwn i a’m teulu yn ei adnabod. Roedd yntau ac Anti Vera yn byw yng Ngarndolbenmaen.<\/p>\n

Yr oedd yn frawd i’m taid Hugh, a’u cartref hwythau ym Mryn Selyf, Llangybi, Eifionydd.<\/p>\n

Yr oedd y teulu yn sicir yn ymwneud \u00e2’r Pethe Cymraeg, ac englyna a barddoniaeth gwlad yn rhan o’u hetifeddiaeth. Daeth storfa o lyfrau trwy law fy nhaid a berthynai i’w dad (fy hen daid i), a llawer o ganu gwlad wedi eu hysgrifennu yn y tudalennau gweigion.<\/p>\n

Cofiaf weld un tro englyn i waith Cybi ar enedigaeth fy nhaid yn 1917. Ni chofiaf fawr o’r englyn am y rheswm nad oedd yn englyn da iawn. Sori, Cybi. Ond fe ddof o hyd iddo pan af i’r gogledd nesaf.<\/p>\n

Selyf y bardd<\/h2>\n

Fe welais, un tro englyn o waith Yncl Defi mewn rhifyn o’r Ffynnon. Cofiaf iddo fod yn englyn esboniadol digon cymen yn disgrifio’r wy, a’r llinell glo oedd “yn dynn o’i rownd, dyna’r wy”.<\/p>\n

Mae dros bymtheg mlynedd ers i mi ddarllen yr englyn. Os oes rhywun yn ei chofio’n llawn, neu gyda chopi wrth law, rhowch wybod i mi.<\/p>\n

Teyrnged i Selyf, ac i Yncl Defi<\/h2>\n

Ces innau’r fraint i ysgrifennu teyrnged fach fy hunan i’w roi’n Y Ffynnon, a diolchaf i Dewi Jones am y cynnig a’r cyfle.<\/p>\n

Rhwng Bryn Selyf, ar odre Garn Bentyrch a’i gartref gydag Anti Vera yng Ngarndolbenmaen mae ynys wastad o dir yn ymestyn o Langybi hyd at Lecheiddior, a Mynydd Cennin yn cadw golwg o’r gogledd. Ond peidiwn ag ofni’r copaon hyn, y mae nhw’n llefydd cadarn i ni ddwyn nerth ohonynt yn ein cystudd.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>I\u2019n tewi fel niwl. Ond taflwn olau,
\n<\/span>tra bod Dwyfor llawn cwmn\u00efaeth corau,
